2High Lawn Primary and Nursery School
High Lawn is a community primary and nursery school taking children from the age of 2 (Nursery) to the age of 11. In the academic year 2023/24, it is expected that there will be pver 500 pupils on roll, with 60 children in each year group from Reception to Year 6 and 100 pupils in our Nursery provision.
Although High Lawn is a large school, there is very much a 'small school feel' and close community - many comment on the 'happy learning environment' which they experience when they visit us.
The school was originally built in 1954 to an attractive and unusual design. It has delightful grounds with a large playing field, gardens and a wooded area (known as The Copse) as well as two hard play areas with adventure equipment.
In addition to the school's Nursery provision, we also offer a before and after school / holiday club managed by Sarah Warren (Club Manager) - further details can be found on the website.
We aim to provide a safe, secure and happy environment where each child feels valued and where all can achieve their full potential. We seek to promote high standards and active participation in all areas of school life, seeking to build a feeling of individual self-worth and mutual respect through positive reinforcement of the school's attitudes and values.

Staff and Governors work hard as a team for the benefit of the children. We have a detailed School Improvement Plan drawn up by staff and Governors which sets out our plans for this year and outlines plans for the following three years.
The school is active in sport and music and provides a range of extra-curricular activities. We provide opportunities for educational visits and older children participate in activity holidays. If it benefits the children and we can arrange it, we take part!
Parents/Carers at High Lawn are very supportive. Many contribute actively to school life as members of the Governing Board, as classroom helpers, through the PTA which provides many extras for school, or by transporting children to out of school activities. Three meetings are held each year where parents/carers can review their child's progress. However, we encourage parents to share concerns they may have at any time and in turn will contact them if their child is experiencing any problems. We believe that close liaison between school and home can only be of benefit to the child.

High Lawn is a popular school, regularly oversubscribed, and has a reputation for high standards of achievement and behaviour of which we are proud.
We were inspected by OFSTED in November 2019 and continue to be a 'good school'. Inspectors also stated that 'This is a happy school. Leaders have put in place a well-balanced and interesting curriculum which, as a result, helps to ensure all pupils achieve well across the school. Pupils appreciate other cultures and religions and, through a wide range of interesting experiences, staff make sure pupils are ready for their next stage of education'.
